Artists Reception Thursday, November 30 from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Now showing in the airport's Upper Link Gallery (ticketing level adjacent to United) is Blended Pieces, artwork by local artist Andrea Edmundson, Christina Plange, & Carly Quinn. Edmundson’s mosaics, Plange’s paintings, and Quinn’s tile work have been brought together in this group exhibition filled with texture and color.
Edmundson uses found items like personal memorabilia, or just some great scrap metal – and builds mosaic art around these inspirations. She never completely knows what the work will look like because each composition develops organically, depending on what materials are available that ‘fit’ into the work. Even when the mosaic is completed, the mounting or framing is as ad hoc as the art – she only uses upcycled materials. The pieces in this exhibit are primarily abstract but range from softer design elements to colder almost digital looking ones.
Plange selected work for this exhibition that displayed vibrant colors, exotic textures and shapes of the environment to portray a visual or an emotion related to the piece of art.
Quinn hand glazed tile murals selected for this exhibition that represent the many colorful scenes from around the desert with blooming prickly pear, saguaro and agave.
On display through January 18, 2018. Look for an announcement about an art reception coming soon.
