Did you know pets can get cancer if they’re not spayed or neutered?

In addition to preventing unwanted litters and contributing to more homeless pets, a long-term benefit of spaying and neutering is improved health for both cats and dogs. Spaying females prior to their first heat cycle nearly eliminates the risk of breast cancer and totally prevents uterine infections and uterine cancer. Neutering males prevents testicular cancer, enlargement of the prostate gland, and greatly reduces their risk for perianal tumors.

The Humane Society of Southern Arizona Spay/Neuter Clinic is providing reduced cost spay and neuter for the pets in our community during National Pet Cancer Awareness month. During the month of November spay and neuter surgeries for dogs will be only $25 (plus $5 e-collar) and spay and neuters for cats will be only $15 (plus $2 e-collar). Pets must be 3 months to 3 years of age and dogs must weigh less than 60lbs. For more information or to schedule an appointment call 520-881-0321.
